Officers from the Westport Police Department were dispatched to the Longshore Country Club at approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, where there was a report of a vehicle that had struck several cars.
Police said the operator, New Fairfield resident John Wilson was seen bumping into other vehicles in the parking lot before getting into his car and taking off in the parking lot. Witnesses were able to provide the registration of the 56-year-old man’s car and he was stopped shortly thereafter on Comp Road South.
During the subsequent traffic stop, Wilson failed a pair of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was unable to perform a third. He was arrested at the scene and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was released after posting $500 bond and is due to appear in Norwalk Court on Sept. 4 to answer the charge.
